A day after home minister G Parameshwara said a Tanzanian girl facing a riotous mob was left behind by a patrol after which she was stripped and beaten up, a police inspector and a constable were suspended on Friday for dereliction of duty.

A day after suggesting that Sunday's attack on a 21-year-old Tanzanian girl in the Hesaraghatta area was nothing but racial, Tanzanian high commissioner John H W Kijazi, who arrived in the city on Friday, said he is “impressed with the action taken by the state government“. “The incident was not of a racial nature“, he added.
