Higher Secondary (HSC) general stream students, including number crunchers in commerce, wilted in face of the English paper. While overall pass percentage of HSc general stream was 55.85%, as results published on Saturday showed, of the 4.51 lakh students, 34.58%, (1.52 lakh) failed to clear English, their second language. Still, it was 0.31% better than the results in 2015. Less than 22% of students had failed in English in 2014, said board officials.
