New species of reptile found in Megamalai Wildlife Sanctuary
Researchers have found a new species of reptile, a rock dwelling gecko, in Megamalai Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu. The Megamalai rock gecko, which is its suggested common name, is the first description of a reptile from this landscape since 1949 after English planter and naturalist Angus Finlay Hutton spotted Hutton’s pit viper there.

New dinosaur species found in Sahara desert of Egypt
The fossilised remains of the new species, named Mansourasaurus Shahinae, were unearthed by an expedition undertaken by an initiative of the the Mansoura University Vertebrate Paleontology (MUVP) in Egypt.

Pollution affects at least 47 million Indian children
The report by Greenpeace-India, based on data from state and central pollution control boards, asserted that as many as 47 million children live in areas with pollutant PM10, or particulate matter in the air with diameter less than 10 microns, exceeding the safe limits.

Gujarat HC denies 14-yr-old nod to abort 32-week fetus
A seemingly disturbed Gujarat high court on Tuesday rejected the request for abortion by a 14-yearold rape survivor, who is currently seven months pregnant. The high court, however, advised the Centre to draw fresh guideline for abortion of advanced fetus in unwanted pregnancies in rape cases and effect changes in law to enable doctors to perform their duty properly.
