Can India do without China in a post-Covid world?
India has again found itself in an eyeball-to-eyeball confrontation with China. The new standoff comes at a time when India was hoping to make some inroads into Chinese dominance of global supply chains in a post-Covid world. But with its own domestic markets flooded with Chinese products, and a high dependency on Chinese imports to run its own factories, can India afford to antagonise its giant neighbour?

Lockdown, Day 76: Maharashtra > China

While most of India throws off the shackles after a gruelling lockdown, Maharashtra continues to suffer - reporting a total of 85,975 cases, a tally higher than that of China.

India's first phase of unlocking, after over 70 days of being locked in, began today with religious places across the country reopening first.

Here are the latest updates from today:




COUNT SO FAR:
    Delhi's tally crosses 28,000-mark; toll mounts to 812.
    Rajasthan now has 10,696 cases; 241 casualties.
    Haryana tally up to 4,590,total death count goes to 30.
    239 cases, two deaths in Karnataka, tally now 5,213.
    155 new cases in Assam; state total now 2,397.
    125 new cases in Andhra Pradesh; total now 3,843.
    105 new cases in Bihar take total to 5,175.
    53 new cases in Tripura; tally rises to 803.
    Nine new cases in Puducherry; total cases now 75.
    Eight new cases in Mizoram; total now 24.
