Will a self-reliant India become a protectionist India?
The government has unveiled a new economic package to cushion the coronavirus blow on the country's economy. The underlying theme, as Modi himself said, is the idea of a self-reliant India. As the finance minister lays out the fine print of the Rs 20 lakh crore mega booster, the question looms - will an atmanirbhar India turn protectionist and shun global linkages? If it does, what will be the cost?
