Lockdown, Day 33: Super-rich tax to fund fight?

As the fight against COVID-19 takes a toll on India's coffers, taxmen have suggested that the government charge the super-rich extra.

With the end of the nationwide lockdown drawing closer, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to discuss with his Chief Ministers an easing of restrictions post May 3 and the way forward.


Here are the developments so far:




COUNT SO FAR:
    Two dead in West Bengal, including one doctor.
    Two dead in Uttar Pradesh; state reports 50 fresh cases.
    58 new cases in Rajasthan, total rises to 2,141.
    91 new cases in Indore; district tally at 1,176.
    81 new cases in AP; total cases now 1,097.
    29 new cases in Jammu and Kashmir, total over 500
    Seven new cases in Haryana, cases total 294.
    Four more test positive in Andaman and Nicobar.
    Three new cases in Odisha, total now 103
    Two fresh cases in Uttarakhand.
    One new case in Karnataka; state tally now 501.
