A mutual fund investor's (5-minute) guide to Budget 2020 If you are opting for the new tax regime for convenience, you should be careful about your savings and investments. Should you say bye to ELSS, Section 80C, and opt for new tax rate? Many mutual fund advisors fear that many individuals would opt for the new personal tax rate for inconvenience and neglect their investments. Budget 2020: dividends from mutual funds to be taxed at slab rate from April; TDS in Nirmala Sitharaman proposed to change the current system of mutual funds paying the DDT and move to the classical system of taxing dividend in the hands of the unit holders or investors. Sebi may reclassify mid cap, small cap mutual funds to offer more flexibility Mutual fund managers claim the categorization had taken away their flexibility to invest, resulting in money flowing into a set of stocks. This has impacted performance of mutual fund schemes, say a few fund managers.
