Around 12.59 lakh voters including 8.20 lakh male and 4.39 lakh female would cast their franchise in the first phase of panchayal poll for the post of member, gram panchayat and pradhan at 1,060 polling booths in five development blocks including Meja, Urwa, Koraon, Manda and Karchana on Saturday.

Allahabad as car thieves' paradise: 1044 cases reported in 10 months
The city of Sangam has once again gained notoriety after registering highest (1044) cases of car thefts in Allahabad zone in past 10 months of this year. Ironically, apart from Kaushambi and Fatehpur, five out of eight districts including Pratapgarh, Banda, Hamirpur, Mahoba and Chitrakoot have too registered 10-33 percent rise in cases of car thefts.
