Top 10 mutual funds to invest Here are two schemes from five important categories - aggressive hybrid, large cap, mid cap, small cap, and multi cap schemes - you may consider investing to meet your long-term financial goals. We believe these schemes should be enough for regular mutual fund investors. Rajeev Thakkar of PPFAS Mutual Fund talks about relevance of value investing in India "I don't think we should expect returns like around 15% or plus kind of nominal returns very soon because the interest rate and inflation environment today is very different that we have seen in the past. In the past when inflation rates were around 9%, we were getting equity returns of around 15% but now when the inflation number are 4-5%, we should mark down the expected nominal returns from equities as well," Rajeev Thakkar, CIO & Equity Fund Manager, PPFAS Mutual Fund tells ETMutualFunds.com. Watch now. Never choose international funds based solely on returns The international fund category is offering around 15% returns in the last one year. Suddenly, many mutual fund investors are thinking of diversifying and include at least one international fund in their mutual fund portfolio. 31% equity mutual funds manage less than Rs 100 crore. Should you avoid these small funds? Around 23% of the total schemes have an AUM of less than Rs 50 crore. If we remove the new schemes launched in 2017 or later, we still have 96 schemes which have been there for a while and did not manage to scale up their AUM. Even after the Reserve Bank of India started cutting rates regularly and changed its monetary stance to accommodative from neutral, the advice hasn't changed.
