What are the Northern Lights? According to the ancient Vedic teachings, the north pole contains the pivot of the universal earth plane in the form of the magnetic Meru mountain (hence compasses point to the North Pole), and all stars revolve around that pivot like lights on a spinning chandelier.

The Amazing Temple Tank at Thiruvarur Shiva Temple

This is the amazing temple tank of the ancient Shiva Temple at Thiruvarur, location of the famous Tyagaraja Swamy deity which was brought from Indraloka by King Muchukunda.

The Amazing Temple Tank at Thiruvarur Shiva Temple

This is the amazing temple tank of the ancient Shiva Temple at Thiruvarur, location of the famous Tyagaraja Swamy deity which was brought from Indraloka by King Muchukunda. I have never seen a temple tank as large and beautiful as the one at Thiruvarur. Even though it is off the usual path of travel, anytime I go South I make an effort to visit this temple.

Sri Vishwanatha Baba Enters Maha Samadhi at Chakratirtha Ashram in Odisha

Yesterday (April 20th) at 2 am, one of the great saints and mahatmas left us and was placed in samadhi.

Sri Vishwanatha Baba Enters Maha Samadhi at Chakratirtha Ashram in Odisha

Yesterday (April 20th) at 2 am, one of the great saints and mahatmas left us and was placed in samadhi. I have known Vishwanatha Baba for around 20 years. He was a brahmachari sadhu his entire life from childhood. He is the younger brother of another sadhu, 101 year old Chakratirtha Baba, and both of them have resided in the forest at Chakratirtha for the last 50 years.

Visiting the Sadhus at Chakratirtha Ashram to Attend the Gita Yagya

Visiting the Sadhus at Chakratirtha Ashram to Attend the Gita Yagya

As mentioned in our last post, sadhu Brahma Chaitanya Das had asked us to come with him to attend the annual Gita Yagya festival at Chakratirtha ashram in the beginning of December. Chakratirtha ashram is located in the Salandi Reserve Forest, around 50 kilometers from our ashram at Bhadrak, Odisha. I called my friend who drives an auto rickshaw, and we started the day before the festival.
