Former Jammu & Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah's plea seeking divorce from his estranged wife Payal Abdullah was on Tuesday rejected by a trial court which said that the politician failed to prove “irretrievable breakdown of the marriage“.

Move to jail celebrities for misleading ads put on hold
The proposal to fine and jail celebrities for misleading endorsement of products has been put on hold for now. The consumer affairs ministry will first conduct a study of global best practices on dealing with misleading endorsements rather than straight away going ahead with its decision to jail celebrity endorsers.

The Centre announced a slew of measures on Tuesday, including a 42% increase in minimum wages for unskilled non-agricultural workers to Rs 350 a day and payment of bonus for two years to central government employees, in a bid to get trade unions to call off their proposed nationwide strike on Friday.
