Lockdown, Day 70: India faces a paradigm shift

India's May gold imports fell by 99 per cent from a year ago amid a nationwide lockdown. This, when India is the second largest consumer of the precious metal. In some good news, CMIE data showed that improved labour market conditions have added 21 million jobs last month.

A study by Elara Securities Inc. has put 5 Indian states in good light as they seem to have outgrown the pandemic slump. Kerala, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Haryana and Karnataka are contributing nearly 27 per cent to the country's GDP.
