Lockdown, Day 26: Litmus test is almost here

Some parts of the country are getting ready for a resumption of select economic activities from tomorrow, even as a majority of districts will remain under total lockdown given the density of red zones.

In some heartening news from the past 24 hours, all of Goa's Covid-19 patients have recovered and the state has not reported any new cases of the virus.

Below are the other major developments during the day.




COUNT SO FAR:
    One death in Haryana, total cases now at 246.
    One death in Rajasthan; 80 new cases take tally to 1,431.
    228 new cases in Gujarat, total count rises to 1,604.
    186 new cases in Delhi, all asymptomatic; case total now 1,893.
    60 new cases in Maharashtra, total cases over 3,600.
    45 new cases in Uttar Pradesh.
    44 new cases in Andhra Pradesh, state's total now 647.
    Four new cases in Mysore, Karnataka's case tally rises to 388.
    One new case in Bihar, total now 87.
    One new case in Jharkhand, tally up to 34.
    No new cases in 54 districts in last 14 days.

    Stranded labourers to be allowed intra-state movement under lockdown.

Govt wants data on sackings and pay cuts happening in India. Modi has himself made multiple appeals to companies to be considerate to staff. But all this is exclusively for the organised sector. The informal sector that forms the economy's backbone has got a few doles, but nothing beyond that. What'll be the cost of the skew?
